Steven Vera – Chief Executive Officer
Steven Vera is the Chief Executive Officer of Wachusett Ventures, LLC. In this role, Mr. Vera handles all day-to-day operational aspects of the four skilled nursing facilities in the Wachusett portfolio. Mr. Vera has worked in the senior care industry his entire career beginning in 1991. He is licensed as a nursing home administrator in Connecticut (since 1993), Massachusetts (since 1994) and Rhode Island (since 2016).
Mr. Vera began his career as an Assistant Administrator in 1991 and has demonstrated continue growth in roles and responsibilities as an Administrator, Regional Director of Operations and Regional Vice President for multiple providers. His experience crosses into many sectors of the senior living space including skilled nursing, assisted living and independent living.
Mr. Vera has proven the ability to return troubled facilities to operational health as demonstrated by his leadership of multiple facilities to successfully graduate from the CMS Special Focus Facility list in both Connecticut and Massachusetts. Additionally, Mr. Vera has successfully managed two union decertification campaigns in his career. Mr. Vera possesses solid industry insight with the ability to ascertain and analyze needs, forecast goals, and operate efficiently to ensure his facilities provide the highest quality of care possible for the residents.
Mr. Vera was originally hired as the Chief Operating Officer at Wachusett in April 2016. In October 2018, he was promoted to his current role as Chief Executive Officer after the former CEO was removed by the Board of Managers. Since this promotion, Mr. Vera managed the successful reorganization of the company through the closure of under performing assets, elimination of duplicative roles, recruitment of higher quality personnel (both facility-based and regional team) and implementation of operational benchmarks. These accomplishments have repositioned Wachusett well for the future and provided the necessary stability to secure the current facilities in the portfolio.
In 2014, Mr. Vera was recognized by the American Health Care Association as a Future Leaders in Long-Term Care in America. Additionally, Mr. Vera is a Board Member of the Connecticut Association of Healthcare Facilities.
Mr. Vera lives in Willington, Connecticut with his wife. He has two adult children. Mr. Vera received his undergraduate degree in Economics from Stonehill College in North Easton, Massachusetts, and his MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Management from the University of Connecticut.
